15:1
الٓرۚتِلۡكَءَايَٰتُٱلۡكِتَٰبِوَقُرۡءَانٖمُّبِينٖ١
Saheeh International
Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.
Surah Al-Hijr
Ayah-99, Makkah
15:2
رُّبَمَايَوَدُّٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُواْلَوۡكَانُواْمُسۡلِمِينَ٢
Saheeh International
Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.
15:3
ذَرۡهُمۡيَأۡكُلُواْوَيَتَمَتَّعُواْوَيُلۡهِهِمُٱلۡأَمَلُۖفَسَوۡفَيَعۡلَمُونَ٣
Saheeh International
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.
15:4
وَمَآأَهۡلَكۡنَامِنقَرۡيَةٍإِلَّاوَلَهَاكِتَابٞمَّعۡلُومٞ٤
Saheeh International
And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.
15:5
مَّاتَسۡبِقُمِنۡأُمَّةٍأَجَلَهَاوَمَايَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ٥
Saheeh International
No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.
15:6
وَقَالُواْيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينُزِّلَعَلَيۡهِٱلذِّكۡرُإِنَّكَلَمَجۡنُونٞ٦
Saheeh International
And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.
15:7
لَّوۡمَاتَأۡتِينَابِٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِإِنكُنتَمِنَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ٧
Saheeh International
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful.
15:8
مَانُنَزِّلُٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَإِلَّابِٱلۡحَقِّوَمَاكَانُوٓاْإِذٗامُّنظَرِينَ٨
Saheeh International
We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.
15:9
إِنَّانَحۡنُنَزَّلۡنَاٱلذِّكۡرَوَإِنَّالَهُۥلَحَٰفِظُونَ٩
Saheeh International
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
15:10
وَلَقَدۡأَرۡسَلۡنَامِنقَبۡلِكَفِيشِيَعِٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ١٠
Saheeh International
And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.
15:11
وَمَايَأۡتِيهِممِّنرَّسُولٍإِلَّاكَانُواْبِهِۦيَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ١١
Saheeh International
And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.
15:12
كَذَٰلِكَنَسۡلُكُهُۥفِيقُلُوبِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ١٢
Saheeh International
Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.
15:13
لَايُؤۡمِنُونَبِهِۦوَقَدۡخَلَتۡسُنَّةُٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ١٣
Saheeh International
They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.
15:14
وَلَوۡفَتَحۡنَاعَلَيۡهِمبَابٗامِّنَٱلسَّمَآءِفَظَلُّواْفِيهِيَعۡرُجُونَ١٤
Saheeh International
And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend.
15:15
لَقَالُوٓاْإِنَّمَاسُكِّرَتۡأَبۡصَٰرُنَابَلۡنَحۡنُقَوۡمٞمَّسۡحُورُونَ١٥
Saheeh International
They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic.
15:16
وَلَقَدۡجَعَلۡنَافِيٱلسَّمَآءِبُرُوجٗاوَزَيَّنَّـٰهَالِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ١٦
Saheeh International
And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.
15:17
وَحَفِظۡنَٰهَامِنكُلِّشَيۡطَٰنٖرَّجِيمٍ١٧
Saheeh International
And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah].
15:18
إِلَّامَنِٱسۡتَرَقَٱلسَّمۡعَفَأَتۡبَعَهُۥشِهَابٞمُّبِينٞ١٨
Saheeh International
Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.
15:19
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَمَدَدۡنَٰهَاوَأَلۡقَيۡنَافِيهَارَوَٰسِيَوَأَنۢبَتۡنَافِيهَامِنكُلِّشَيۡءٖمَّوۡزُونٖ١٩
Saheeh International
And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.
15:20
وَجَعَلۡنَالَكُمۡفِيهَامَعَٰيِشَوَمَنلَّسۡتُمۡلَهُۥبِرَٰزِقِينَ٢٠
Saheeh International
And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.
15:21
وَإِنمِّنشَيۡءٍإِلَّاعِندَنَاخَزَآئِنُهُۥوَمَانُنَزِّلُهُۥٓإِلَّابِقَدَرٖمَّعۡلُومٖ٢١
Saheeh International
And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.
15:22
وَأَرۡسَلۡنَاٱلرِّيَٰحَلَوَٰقِحَفَأَنزَلۡنَامِنَٱلسَّمَآءِمَآءٗفَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُمُوهُوَمَآأَنتُمۡلَهُۥبِخَٰزِنِينَ٢٢
Saheeh International
And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
15:23
وَإِنَّالَنَحۡنُنُحۡيِۦوَنُمِيتُوَنَحۡنُٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَ٢٣
Saheeh International
And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.
15:24
وَلَقَدۡعَلِمۡنَاٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِينَمِنكُمۡوَلَقَدۡعَلِمۡنَاٱلۡمُسۡتَـٔۡخِرِينَ٢٤
Saheeh International
And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].
15:25
وَإِنَّرَبَّكَهُوَيَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚإِنَّهُۥحَكِيمٌعَلِيمٞ٢٥
Saheeh International
And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.
15:26
وَلَقَدۡخَلَقۡنَاٱلۡإِنسَٰنَمِنصَلۡصَٰلٖمِّنۡحَمَإٖمَّسۡنُونٖ٢٦
Saheeh International
And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.
15:27
وَٱلۡجَآنَّخَلَقۡنَٰهُمِنقَبۡلُمِننَّارِٱلسَّمُومِ٢٧
Saheeh International
And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.
15:28
وَإِذۡقَالَرَبُّكَلِلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِإِنِّيخَٰلِقُۢبَشَرٗامِّنصَلۡصَٰلٖمِّنۡحَمَإٖمَّسۡنُونٖ٢٨
Saheeh International
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.
15:29
فَإِذَاسَوَّيۡتُهُۥوَنَفَخۡتُفِيهِمِنرُّوحِيفَقَعُواْلَهُۥسَٰجِدِينَ٢٩
Saheeh International
And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration.
15:30
فَسَجَدَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُكُلُّهُمۡأَجۡمَعُونَ٣٠
Saheeh International
So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely.
15:31
إِلَّآإِبۡلِيسَأَبَىٰٓأَنيَكُونَمَعَٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ٣١
Saheeh International
Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated.
15:32
قَالَيَـٰٓإِبۡلِيسُمَالَكَأَلَّاتَكُونَمَعَٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ٣٢
Saheeh International
[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate.
15:33
قَالَلَمۡأَكُنلِّأَسۡجُدَلِبَشَرٍخَلَقۡتَهُۥمِنصَلۡصَٰلٖمِّنۡحَمَإٖمَّسۡنُونٖ٣٣
Saheeh International
He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud.
15:34
قَالَفَٱخۡرُجۡمِنۡهَافَإِنَّكَرَجِيمٞ٣٤
Saheeh International
[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled.
15:35
وَإِنَّعَلَيۡكَٱللَّعۡنَةَإِلَىٰيَوۡمِٱلدِّينِ٣٥
Saheeh International
And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense.
15:36
قَالَرَبِّفَأَنظِرۡنِيٓإِلَىٰيَوۡمِيُبۡعَثُونَ٣٦
Saheeh International
He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected.
15:37
قَالَفَإِنَّكَمِنَٱلۡمُنظَرِينَ٣٧
Saheeh International
[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved.
15:38
إِلَىٰيَوۡمِٱلۡوَقۡتِٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ٣٨
Saheeh International
Until the Day of the time well-known.
15:39
قَالَرَبِّبِمَآأَغۡوَيۡتَنِيلَأُزَيِّنَنَّلَهُمۡفِيٱلۡأَرۡضِوَلَأُغۡوِيَنَّهُمۡأَجۡمَعِينَ٣٩
Saheeh International
[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all.
15:40
إِلَّاعِبَادَكَمِنۡهُمُٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ٤٠
Saheeh International
Except, among them, Your chosen servants.
15:41
قَالَهَٰذَاصِرَٰطٌعَلَيَّمُسۡتَقِيمٌ٤١
Saheeh International
[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.
15:42
إِنَّعِبَادِيلَيۡسَلَكَعَلَيۡهِمۡسُلۡطَٰنٌإِلَّامَنِٱتَّبَعَكَمِنَٱلۡغَاوِينَ٤٢
Saheeh International
Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.
15:43
وَإِنَّجَهَنَّمَلَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡأَجۡمَعِينَ٤٣
Saheeh International
And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.
15:44
لَهَاسَبۡعَةُأَبۡوَٰبٖلِّكُلِّبَابٖمِّنۡهُمۡجُزۡءٞمَّقۡسُومٌ٤٤
Saheeh International
It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated.
15:45
إِنَّٱلۡمُتَّقِينَفِيجَنَّـٰتٖوَعُيُونٍ٤٥
Saheeh International
Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs.
15:46
ٱدۡخُلُوهَابِسَلَٰمٍءَامِنِينَ٤٦
Saheeh International
[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure].
15:47
وَنَزَعۡنَامَافِيصُدُورِهِممِّنۡغِلٍّإِخۡوَٰنًاعَلَىٰسُرُرٖمُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ٤٧
Saheeh International
And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.
15:48
لَايَمَسُّهُمۡفِيهَانَصَبٞوَمَاهُممِّنۡهَابِمُخۡرَجِينَ٤٨
Saheeh International
No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.
15:49
۞نَبِّئۡعِبَادِيٓأَنِّيٓأَنَاٱلۡغَفُورُٱلرَّحِيمُ٤٩
Saheeh International
[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.
15:50
وَأَنَّعَذَابِيهُوَٱلۡعَذَابُٱلۡأَلِيمُ٥٠
Saheeh International
And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.
15:51
وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡعَنضَيۡفِإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ٥١
Saheeh International
And inform them about the guests of Abraham.
15:52
إِذۡدَخَلُواْعَلَيۡهِفَقَالُواْسَلَٰمٗاقَالَإِنَّامِنكُمۡوَجِلُونَ٥٢
Saheeh International
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you.
15:53
قَالُواْلَاتَوۡجَلۡإِنَّانُبَشِّرُكَبِغُلَٰمٍعَلِيمٖ٥٣
Saheeh International
[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy.
15:54
قَالَأَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِيعَلَىٰٓأَنمَّسَّنِيَٱلۡكِبَرُفَبِمَتُبَشِّرُونَ٥٤
Saheeh International
He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform.
15:55
قَالُواْبَشَّرۡنَٰكَبِٱلۡحَقِّفَلَاتَكُنمِّنَٱلۡقَٰنِطِينَ٥٥
Saheeh International
They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing.
15:56
قَالَوَمَنيَقۡنَطُمِنرَّحۡمَةِرَبِّهِۦٓإِلَّاٱلضَّآلُّونَ٥٦
Saheeh International
He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray.
15:57
قَالَفَمَاخَطۡبُكُمۡأَيُّهَاٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ٥٧
Saheeh International
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers.
15:58
قَالُوٓاْإِنَّآأُرۡسِلۡنَآإِلَىٰقَوۡمٖمُّجۡرِمِينَ٥٨
Saheeh International
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals.
15:59
إِلَّآءَالَلُوطٍإِنَّالَمُنَجُّوهُمۡأَجۡمَعِينَ٥٩
Saheeh International
Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all.
15:60
إِلَّاٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥقَدَّرۡنَآإِنَّهَالَمِنَٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ٦٠
Saheeh International
Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind.
15:61
فَلَمَّاجَآءَءَالَلُوطٍٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ٦١
Saheeh International
And when the messengers came to the family of Lot.
15:62
قَالَإِنَّكُمۡقَوۡمٞمُّنكَرُونَ٦٢
Saheeh International
He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown.
15:63
قَالُواْبَلۡجِئۡنَٰكَبِمَاكَانُواْفِيهِيَمۡتَرُونَ٦٣
Saheeh International
They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing.
15:64
وَأَتَيۡنَٰكَبِٱلۡحَقِّوَإِنَّالَصَٰدِقُونَ٦٤
Saheeh International
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.
15:65
فَأَسۡرِبِأَهۡلِكَبِقِطۡعٖمِّنَٱلَّيۡلِوَٱتَّبِعۡأَدۡبَٰرَهُمۡوَلَايَلۡتَفِتۡمِنكُمۡأَحَدٞوَٱمۡضُواْحَيۡثُتُؤۡمَرُونَ٦٥
Saheeh International
So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded.
15:66
وَقَضَيۡنَآإِلَيۡهِذَٰلِكَٱلۡأَمۡرَأَنَّدَابِرَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِمَقۡطُوعٞمُّصۡبِحِينَ٦٦
Saheeh International
And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.
15:67
وَجَآءَأَهۡلُٱلۡمَدِينَةِيَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ٦٧
Saheeh International
And the people of the city came rejoicing.
15:68
قَالَإِنَّهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِضَيۡفِيفَلَاتَفۡضَحُونِ٦٨
Saheeh International
[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.
15:69
وَٱتَّقُواْٱللَّهَوَلَاتُخۡزُونِ٦٩
Saheeh International
And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.
15:70
قَالُوٓاْأَوَلَمۡنَنۡهَكَعَنِٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ٧٠
Saheeh International
They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people.
15:71
قَالَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِبَنَاتِيٓإِنكُنتُمۡفَٰعِلِينَ٧١
Saheeh International
[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage].
15:72
لَعَمۡرُكَإِنَّهُمۡلَفِيسَكۡرَتِهِمۡيَعۡمَهُونَ٧٢
Saheeh International
By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.
15:73
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُٱلصَّيۡحَةُمُشۡرِقِينَ٧٣
Saheeh International
So the shriek seized them at sunrise.
15:74
فَجَعَلۡنَاعَٰلِيَهَاسَافِلَهَاوَأَمۡطَرۡنَاعَلَيۡهِمۡحِجَارَةٗمِّنسِجِّيلٍ٧٤
Saheeh International
And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.
15:75
إِنَّفِيذَٰلِكَلَأٓيَٰتٖلِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِينَ٧٥
Saheeh International
Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.
15:76
وَإِنَّهَالَبِسَبِيلٖمُّقِيمٍ٧٦
Saheeh International
And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.
15:77
إِنَّفِيذَٰلِكَلَأٓيَةٗلِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ٧٧
Saheeh International
Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.
15:78
وَإِنكَانَأَصۡحَٰبُٱلۡأَيۡكَةِلَظَٰلِمِينَ٧٨
Saheeh International
And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.
15:79
فَٱنتَقَمۡنَامِنۡهُمۡوَإِنَّهُمَالَبِإِمَامٖمُّبِينٖ٧٩
Saheeh International
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.
15:80
وَلَقَدۡكَذَّبَأَصۡحَٰبُٱلۡحِجۡرِٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ٨٠
Saheeh International
And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.
15:81
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡءَايَٰتِنَافَكَانُواْعَنۡهَامُعۡرِضِينَ٨١
Saheeh International
And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.
15:82
وَكَانُواْيَنۡحِتُونَمِنَٱلۡجِبَالِبُيُوتًاءَامِنِينَ٨٢
Saheeh International
And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.
15:83
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُٱلصَّيۡحَةُمُصۡبِحِينَ٨٣
Saheeh International
But the shriek seized them at early morning.
15:84
فَمَآأَغۡنَىٰعَنۡهُممَّاكَانُواْيَكۡسِبُونَ٨٤
Saheeh International
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.
15:85
وَمَاخَلَقۡنَاٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِوَٱلۡأَرۡضَوَمَابَيۡنَهُمَآإِلَّابِٱلۡحَقِّۗوَإِنَّٱلسَّاعَةَلَأٓتِيَةٞۖفَٱصۡفَحِٱلصَّفۡحَٱلۡجَمِيلَ٨٥
Saheeh International
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.
15:86
إِنَّرَبَّكَهُوَٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُٱلۡعَلِيمُ٨٦
Saheeh International
Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.
15:87
وَلَقَدۡءَاتَيۡنَٰكَسَبۡعٗامِّنَٱلۡمَثَانِيوَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَٱلۡعَظِيمَ٨٧
Saheeh International
And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.
15:88
لَاتَمُدَّنَّعَيۡنَيۡكَإِلَىٰمَامَتَّعۡنَابِهِۦٓأَزۡوَٰجٗامِّنۡهُمۡوَلَاتَحۡزَنۡعَلَيۡهِمۡوَٱخۡفِضۡجَنَاحَكَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ٨٨
Saheeh International
Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers.
15:89
وَقُلۡإِنِّيٓأَنَاٱلنَّذِيرُٱلۡمُبِينُ٨٩
Saheeh International
And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner.
15:90
كَمَآأَنزَلۡنَاعَلَىٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِينَ٩٠
Saheeh International
Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators.
15:91
ٱلَّذِينَجَعَلُواْٱلۡقُرۡءَانَعِضِينَ٩١
Saheeh International
Who have made the Qur'an into portions.
15:92
فَوَرَبِّكَلَنَسۡـَٔلَنَّهُمۡأَجۡمَعِينَ٩٢
Saheeh International
So by your Lord, We will surely question them all.
15:93
عَمَّاكَانُواْيَعۡمَلُونَ٩٣
Saheeh International
About what they used to do.
15:94
فَٱصۡدَعۡبِمَاتُؤۡمَرُوَأَعۡرِضۡعَنِٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ٩٤
Saheeh International
Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.
15:95
إِنَّاكَفَيۡنَٰكَٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِينَ٩٥
Saheeh International
Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers.
15:96
ٱلَّذِينَيَجۡعَلُونَمَعَٱللَّهِإِلَٰهًاءَاخَرَۚفَسَوۡفَيَعۡلَمُونَ٩٦
Saheeh International
Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know.
15:97
وَلَقَدۡنَعۡلَمُأَنَّكَيَضِيقُصَدۡرُكَبِمَايَقُولُونَ٩٧
Saheeh International
And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.
15:98
فَسَبِّحۡبِحَمۡدِرَبِّكَوَكُنمِّنَٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ٩٨
Saheeh International
So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].
15:99
وَٱعۡبُدۡرَبَّكَحَتَّىٰيَأۡتِيَكَٱلۡيَقِينُ٩٩
Saheeh International
And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).
